Having built the pizza oven out of clay, sand, wood shavings, straw and horsehair we enjoyed all that it offered through the summer months. It is wrapped in a duvet underneath a tarpaulin for the winter so I hope that the frost will not manage to harm it during these days of minus temperatures. ![]()
During the half term in February we constructed a living willow tunnel the framework is embedded a foot down in the ground in order for it to flourish. I trust that it will stay dormant until the warmer weather and then with the warmth of spring start to sprout its green leaves to create a three metre tunnel leading to the "castle mound. ![]()
After that we will establish a tree swing which will be suspended from a large branch between two of the ash trees. The branch was taken down last autumn and kept for the swing project. It will need to be lashed to the trees and then we will suspend a rope swing down from it. This is to be next to the tunnel, near the campfire area and the area designated for the tent which is stored ready for use. ![]()
Thus progress has been made outside and inside too with various things on the go including music making around our pianola. Singalongs are quite frequent!
